Smith STEM Night 2025

Smith PTSA is thrilled to present Smith STEM Night 2025 to you!!
 
  • Event to be held at Smith on 3rd April 2025 after school (more details to follow) 
  • Sign up to present a project in any one of the categories of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math 
  • Students can participate individually or in groups of up to 3 kids (1 registration per team)
  • Teams from FLL or other events are welcome to present their projects but not compete 
  • Rules/Guidelines and Scoring Criteria are attached here.
  • Registration is open until March 27th, 2025
 
What to look forward to at the Smith STEM Night?
 
  • K-5th grade student projects 
  • Demos from EHS honors societies, clubs, and science vendors from the local community 
  • Opportunities for hands-on science experiments, building, and a lot more!
 
Students are encouraged to register and present a project in their category of choice. Smith STEM Night will be open to the community from 6-8 pm and families of presenting and non-presenting students are welcome alike! More details to come!

At this time, we are pleased to share the Spelling Bee Words

Please do not share the words list outside of Samantha Smith. Start practicing these words and add them to your daily vocabulary. We can't wait to see our S-W-I-Mmers shine!

Smith Science Olympiad 2025

Smith PTSA is thrilled to liaise with the Eastlake HS Science Olympiad club again to bring you the Elementary Science Olympiad for 2025!
 
What: The Science Olympiad is a fun and challenging STEM competition that encourages students to think scientifically to complete various challenges and tests. Elementary SciOly is a great opportunity to get your child interested in all that Science has to offer! 
 
When: 24 April 2025 after school (time to follow)
Where: Smith gym
 
This year’s events: 
BOTTLE ROCKET - Students will build and launch a 2-liter plastic bottle for maximum time aloft. 
ELEMENTS, COMPOUNDS, MIXTURES - Each participant will classify materials into one of the three possible categories. 
REFLECTION RELAY - Each Participant will position mirrors to bounce a light beam from a light source onto a target.

Registrations will be closed at 40 sign-ups to allow for planning and next steps. Details will be shared with families of registered students. Stay tuned!
