PTSA GOLDEN AWARDS
The PTSA Golden Acorn, Golden Apple and Dolphin Awards are an exciting opportunity to recognize your favorite Volunteer, Educator and Student Advocate from the Smith Community. The information and forms for the 3 categories for the 2023-24 school year are outlined below. Your vote is valuable so read through the prestigious awards and vote using their respective Form Links by April 30th.

A Golden Acorn Award is presented by a local PTA or council to a school or community volunteer in recognition of their dedication and service to children and youth. Since the beginning of this program in the 1930s, more than 54,000 Golden Acorn Awards have been presented to volunteers throughout Washington state. Smith Elementary PTSA is seeking nominations for volunteers that demonstrate an outstanding personal commitment to improving the lives of children and youth through their service to the school, district, and community. The Award recipient will be recognized at a district meeting/newsletter, will receive a certificate and pin, and have their name added to a plaque showcased at school. Smith PTSA will also make a small contribution in the recipient’s name, to the Washington State PTSA Scholarship Program which provides scholarships to selected high school students entering post-secondary education. The Golden Apple Award is given to an outstanding educator who has made significant contributions in their community to enhance the educational outcomes of all children or youth. An educator is not limited to an educator or teacher, but may be defined as a teacher, specialist, support staff, administrator, or community member. Recipients receive a certificate and pin, and a contribution is made in their name to the WSPTSA Scholarship Program that benefits students. Use this LINK to vote.

In 2011, Washington State PTA created the Outstanding Student Advocate Award to recognize student PTA members who have made significant contributions through leadership and service in their school and community. The Dolphin Award is Smith PTSA’s award to recognize such students. So, if you know of such a student at Smith then this is an excellent platform to recognize and encourage our students. Recipients receive a certificate and pin.
