A Legacy Project is a gift that the 5th grade Dolphins will leave behind for future students and staff of Samantha Smith Elementary School. The idea is for the project to last a long time. Over time, with these Legacy Projects, the school has become a colorful, arts-rich, inviting space that students and the school community love being part of.

Recent examples at Smith have included the following: tile wall in the hallways of school, the buddy bench, the colored dolphins on the front fence of school, and the recycled art behind the dumpster area in the front of school.

Legacy projects from other elementary schools in the nation include arranging a mural to be painted in the gym, starting a bird habitat, pollinator boxes, or installing park benches near the playground.

Smith PTSA has a committee that is focused on helping ALL 5th GRADERS make their legacy project ideas become a reality.

We want you to submit your ideas and opinions about a legacy project to be installed in June of 2022, your last month at Smith. While that may seem far away, we want to make sure that whatever ideas you have are supported the best they can be and that means we would like to start planning now. With that said, please fill out this form with any and all ideas you have. Ideas will be collected, and we can vote as an entire 5th grade in January.

Also, families of all 5th graders are invited to join the Facebook page dedicated to Team Smith-5th If you have any questions, please email kate.n.thibodeau@gmail.com.
